George is the News Director of the WHIZ Media Group. He also co-anchors the 6:00PM news on WHIZ-TV and anchors daily news updates on AM1240 and Z92 radio stations.
George has been working at the station since 1981 and started as a general assignment reporter. He graduated from Bowling Green State University with a Bachelor’s degree in communications. When not at work you can find George playing golf during the mornings on weekends and watching the Reds and Bengals win championships.
After leaving the news business for six years to start a family, Carolyn Haley-Fleegle returned to WHIZ-TV in April, 2006 to anchor LIVE AT NOON. She also co-anchors the 6 PM news. Before leaving the station, Carolyn co-anchored the 6 o’clock news and anchored the news at 11 for seven years.
An Ohio native, Carolyn grew up in Kettering, a suburb of Dayton. She graduated from Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio where she obtained a degree in Communications.
While not at work, Carolyn enjoys spending time with her two sons going to the movies, bowling and playing miniature golf.
Nichole Hannahs is a native to Southeastern Ohio growing up in Perry County in the Village of Corning. She’s also a proud graduate of Bishop Rosecrans High School.
Nichole joined WHIZ in 2000 as an intern before joining the staff full time as a photojournalist and sports reporter in 2005. She now works as a multi-platform journalist working in both radio and television. You can hear her every morning from 6:00-8:30 a.m. on AM 1240, Z92.7 and Highway 103.7.
Nichole graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Communication from Waynesburg College, emphasizing in Sports Broadcasting/Sports Information and Journalism. As a student at Waynesburg, Nichole held the position of Sports Director for WCYJ-FM, calling Yellow Jacket basketball games and high school football. She also was a sports anchor for a weekly newscast on WC-TV and a contributing reporter to the Waynesburg College Yellow Jacket newspaper.
Nichole chose broadcasting because of her love of community and learning what is important to the people of Southeastern Ohio. She’s always looking for a good story.
When she’s not working you can find Nichole at various sporting events, especially if hockey is involved. She also enjoys hiking at Blackhand Gorge with her husband, Brandon.
Lindsay joined the WHIZ News team as a reporter in May 2015.
As a native of Cincinnati, Lindsay attended Oak Hills High School. She then continued her education at the University of Cincinnati where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and minored in Electronic Media.
During her college career, Lindsay contributed the campus newspaper, The News Record, and held the position of Secretary/ Director of Correspondence for the student chapter of the Online News Association.
Lindsay interned at Local 12 News in Cincinnati, as well as FOX19, where she honed her journalism skill-set and had the opportunity to work side-by-side with industry professionals.
Following her internship at FOX19, she was hired as a News Content Specialist, where she worked on set for the six-and-a-half hour morning news. In that position, she gained behind the scenes experience with cameras and floor directing.
When not covering news, she enjoys attending sporting events and watching her favorite teams on TV. Lindsay is excited to start her career here in Zanesville and can’t wait to learn more about the town.
Carmel joined the WHIZ News team as a News Reporter in November 2015.
A native of South Florida, Carmel is a proud graduate from Cardinal Newman High School in 2008. She then took her talents to the sunny shores of Miami attending Barry University. Earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Broadcast Communication in 2011.
Carmel’s first on air position was in Oak Hill, West Virginia at WOAY as a News Reporter and Weekend Weather Anchor.
When not in the newsroom, she enjoys cooking, learning new things, shopping, and spending time with her family and friends. Carmel is delighted to continue her career here in Zanesville. Feel free to say hello when you see her out and about or send her any story ideas.
David Kinder joined the WHIZ News team as a reporter and anchor in May of 2016.
David is a native of Columbus and attended Westland High School and graduated from Otterbein University in Westerville. While at Otterbein, David served as the sports director for the campus media outlets WOBN 97.5 and Otterbein TV. He provided play-by-play for over 200 sporting events on radio while also hosting weekly coaches’ interview shows and anchoring the weekly TV news broadcast.
Before coming to WHIZ full-time, David worked for WHIZ 92.7 and WHIZ 1240 broadcasting Zanesville High School and Muskingum Valley League football and basketball games during the 2015-’16 season. One of the biggest thrills of his career was doing play-by-play on Z92 for the Ohio boy’s basketball state title game from the Value City Arena as John Glenn won the state title.
David also served as an intern during the summer of 2015 at WBNS 97.1 The Fan in Columbus, the flagship station of the Ohio State Buckeyes.
When not covering news and sports David can be found attending Reds and Buckeye games and going to the movies.
