David Kinder joined the WHIZ News team as a reporter and anchor in May of 2016.

David is a native of Columbus and attended Westland High School and graduated from Otterbein University in Westerville. While at Otterbein, David served as the sports director for the campus media outlets WOBN 97.5 and Otterbein TV. He provided play-by-play for over 200 sporting events on the radio while also hosting weekly coaches interview shows and anchoring the weekly TV news broadcast.

Before coming to WHIZ full-time, David worked for WHIZ 92.7 and WHIZ 1240 broadcasting Zanesville High School and Muskingum Valley League football and basketball games during the 2015-16 season. One of the biggest thrills of his career was doing play-by-play on Z92 for the Ohio boy’s basketball state title game from the Value City Arena as John Glenn won the state title.

David also served as an intern during the summer of 2015 at WBNS 97.1 The Fan in Columbus, the flagship station of the Ohio State Buckeyes.

When not covering news and sports David can be found attending Reds and Buckeye games and going to the movies.
