$1 Billion to Ohio’s Employers

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – An important letter is coming in the mail for business owners.
Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation is returning $1 billion to Ohio’s employers. According to the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation all eligible private employers must have been billed premium for the policy year ending June 30, 2016 or public employers billed by December 31, 2015 and be current in policy requirements.
“This is the third billion dollars that the [Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation] has given back,” Chamber President Dana Matz said. “So it’s great for area businesses to get money back from the [Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation]. The point is if you get a letter from [Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation] open it up, because there’s a good chance it’s got a check in it.”
The envelope will be labeled ‘Important Documents Enclosed’. According to B.W.C. this will be the third time in four years the B.W.C. will return more than $1 billion to Ohio’s private and public employers.
Matz claimed another way to receive a check is to participate in the Safety Council program offered by the Zanesville-Muskingum Chamber of Commerce. Safety Council meets monthly and is focused on reports, safety, and wellness in the work place. There is also a third way for employers to save money.
“So the rebate, which is a gift that doesn’t happen often. Number two joining Safety Council,” Matz said. “Also the [Zanesville-Muskingum Chamber of Commerce] works with Careworks to provide whats called third-party administrator. Which can save area businesses additional money and management responsibilities for their worker’s compensation.”
The deadline to become a Safety Council member is July 31, 2017. For more information call the Zanesville-Muskingum Chamber of Commerce at (740) 455-8282 and ask for either Ashley Umstott or Dana Matz.
