12th Annual Community Bank Shred Day

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – When scammers dig through office trash for private information, your private information isn’t censored like government documents.

That’s why in this digital age, shredding documents that contain financial information can remove a vital avenue from scammers seeking your account numbers and possible passwords. Community Bank President and CEO Eric Holsky explained how this Saturday’s Community Bank Drive Thru Shred Day provides an easy way to combat identity theft.

“This year, it’s April 18th, from 9 to Noon. It’s been around here, we started this back in 2015,” Holsky said. “They just pull up on our Fourth Street side here into our back parking lot. We will direct you from there. You don’t need to leave your car. Everything will be taken care of. This is free to the public. Nobody has to pay any fee to bring it in here. We do ask that you limit your paper to five boxes, which would be like copier paper boxes.”

Holsky said that attachments such as staples, paper clips and rubber bands no longer need to be removed and that documents aren’t the only items you can bring to their downtown location to have recycled.

“Another piece that we do offer is e-waste recycling. We partner with Muskingum Iron and Metal. We have done that for several years now. And they will take, you know computers, towers, phones, pretty much anything but monitors or tv’s, that is electronic. We’ll even take cords, wires, things like that. But those will be recycled from them and those will avoid being in the landfill, just like the paper,” Holsky said.

Over the years, Shred Day has collected and recycled more than 71 tons of paper. Additionally, the three-hour drive through process has streamlined to accept between 3 and 11 tons of paper and over 3 tons of electronics. More information such as location and drive through directions can be found at The Community Bank’s website.
