ZANESVILLE, Ohio-  The 171st Annual Muskingum County Blue Ribbon Fair kicked off.

The grand opening of the fair took place at the grandstand at 4:45 p.m. The official launch of the fair was started by launching propellers, made by Able Electric in Zanesville. Board President, Darrel Cubbison, said the fair has incredible support from the local communities.

“This means a lot to the organizations because I have visited nearly all the 95 fairs in Ohio and we have the most local food stands,” said Cubbison. “We have more, from churches and other organizations of any fair in the state of Ohio.”

Cubbison said all veterans were able to enter for free on the first day, of the fair, as a way to honor those who served our country.

“We’re just having a great time of opening it,” said Cubbison. “The VFW opened it with the color guard and their salute. We are honoring America with Veterans day. We’ve interviewed lots of veterans, and we welcome them to come.”

The Muskingum County Fair will continue through Saturday, August 19th.
