173rd Morgan County Fair
McCONNELSVILLE, Ohio – The residents of Morgan County celebrate the entire week of Labor Day when the annual county fair arrives at the fairgrounds.
Morgan County Fair Board Director Garth Ruff explained the importance of the tradition and what makes the Morgan County Fair stand apart.
“The fair officially opened today…” Ruff said. “We’ve got a lot of entertainment planned. Certainly the Junior Fair program is a big part of what we do here with the livestock and the exhibitions.”
Many fairs have a rodeo, harness racing, a popular entertainer, games, rides and concessions, but Morgan County is steeped in motorsports and has added a unique twist.
“Entertainment wise, of course tonight’s antique and garden tractor pull. Tomorrow night will be the KOI drag racing. If you’ve got something on wheels that can run, they’ve got a class for it. We might be one of the only counties with the KOI drag racing, you know, as far as neighboring counties this year. Yeah, it looks like it’s going to be a great week and we should have some good entertainment there in front of the grandstand,” Ruff said.
Thursday night will feature a rough truck competition, Friday night is the professional tractor pull and Saturday night is the demolition derby. So if you’re a fan of grass roots motorsports, you should plan a trip to this year’s Morgan County Fair.
