Each year the Glass family presents one lucky scholar with the Bar-G Oil and Gas Scholarship.

The Bar-G Oil and Gas Scholarship was created nearly ten years ago to encourage students to pursue a college career at Zane State College majoring in Welding and Fabrication. Friday, the scholarship selection committee at the Muskingum County Community Foundation announced that the scholarship winner is Caleb Pratt. Pratt is a 2015 graduate from Tri-Valley High School and the Mid-East Technology Center and is currently attending Zane State College majoring in Welding and Fabrication.

“I am very honored. It’s a very, wow I don’t know, I don’t have many words for it but, I feel very thankful,” said Pratt.

Donor, Beth Glass said the scholarship is in honor of her late husband Tim Glass, who also attended Mid-East before going on to pursue a higher education at Zane State College.

“He wouldn’t want it to be after him because he didn’t want his name out there. But, I think underneath all of it, he would be very happy that it’s in remembrance of him,” said Glass.

Those seeking further information about scholarship or wishing to make donations may contact the Muskingum County Community Foundation, Scholarship Central Program, 534 Putnam Avenue from 8:30 a.m to 5:00 p.m weekdays at (740) 453-5192.
