2016 Annual Suicide Awareness Banquet
This years Annual Suicide Awareness Banquet took place at the Coburn United Methodist Church in Zanesville.
Attendees were Coalition members, state officials, and local dignitaries, along with various community groups that are concerned with deaths by suicide.
The theme of Thursday’s event was “An Evening of HOPE.” The goal of the banquet was to help raise awareness of suicide; honor loved ones lost to suicide, and promote suicide prevention efforts.
Dr. Yvette Jackson, Executive Director of the Ohio Suicide Prevention Foundation, talked about the importance of hope and “wrapping around” those at risk and surviving family members with caring concern.
“No matter where you are or who you are, if you or someone you know is feeling helpless, hopeless, or worthless, know that there is hope, help, and healing,” said Dr. Jackson.
If you, a family member, or a friend needs help, you can always contact the Suicide Prevention Hotline at 1-800-273-TALK.
