ZANESVILLE, Ohio- A local organization is honoring women making difference in the community.
Friday the 2016 Women of Achievement recipients were announced. Recipients are able to meet and learn about one another. We spoke to City of Zanesville Assistant Law Director and last year’s honoree and host of Friday’s luncheon Emily Strang Tarbert.
“It’s so important that we continue to empower and acknowledge the many contributions the women in Muskingum County make. You will meet the 6 recipients here today. And all the contributions that they’ve made to our community,” said Tarbert.
We spoke to Lifetime Service Award recipient Helen Richey.
“It’s like the proverbial turtle that you’ve found on top of the fence post. He didn’t get there by himself did he. I didn’t get here by myself. I had the help and the guidance of parents, educators, friends, community, the church. We all support one another. You don’t give where you are by yourself,” said Richey.
