2018 Muskingum County K-12 Art Exhibition

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Young local artists had the opportunity to display their artwork at the Muskingum County K-12 Student Art Exhibition.

The Zanesville Museum of Art, along with the American Association of University Women, The Community Bank, and the Ohio Arts Council, are excited about the opening of the exhibit and to give students the chance to share their work with friends and family. Zanesville Museum of Art Education Coordinator Misty Johnson said the museum loves having the show and that it means so much to the families.

“When you walk around, you just see the pride glowing on their faces as they point out what work is their’s here at the show,” said Johnson “And their parents are taking pictures, and it really has become an enduring tradition here in Muskingum County, where a lot of the parents here today had artwork in the show when they were kids and now they’re sharing that experience with their kids.”

Johnson also said that the exhibit not only allows the students to display their work but to show how much art education is valued in the local schools.

“We just really want to emphasize the importance of visual arts education in the broader education experience because everything they learn working through the visual arts helps them in other subjects and actually helps them become a successful adult,” said Johnson
