2024 Wildlife Conference Saturday at Zane State
ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Southeastern Ohio has an abundance of nature and native species of wildlife that many times can be spotted right in your backyard.
Zane State Wildlife Conservation Professor Al Parker talked about Saturday’s Wildlife Conference that is open to the public and gives everyone the opportunity to learn more about the animals as well as ways to create nature friendly habitats that can help them thrive.
“Muskingum Valley Wildlife Conference is going to be for anybody and everybody. Not just people who are like hard core you know, research kind of people but also folks that are just interested in what’s going on with wildlife in our area. People who have just a beginning interest and then there’s going to be some experts there so you can ask questions of people who have real specialized studies. A broad brush approach for just about anybody who has a… who’s enthusiastic about wildlife,” Parker said.
The 2024 Muskingum Valley Wildlife Conference is sponsored by the Muskingum and Guernsey Counties Soil and Water Conservation Districts and will cover a wide range of topics from animals to land and water management.
“People are going to be talking about…” Parker said. “I’m going to list them here. What’s going on with bobcats here in Ohio, a little toad called the spadefoot toad, owls, the different kinds of owls we have in the state. People who are doing what we call modus surveys and that is little towers that are put up for bird… noting bird migration and they’ll be talking about that. Mushroom identification, a kind of an introductory class on that.”
Admission for the 2024 Muskingum Valley Wildlife Conference that will take place from 9 to 4 this Saturday at the Zane State College Campus Center is $25 dollars.
