The Mental Health and Recovery Services Board presents 2016 Friends of Recovery Award

ZANESVILLE,Ohio- The Mental Health and Recovery Services Board held their annual meeting Wednesday.

During this meeting 11 individuals were presented with the 2016 Friends of Recovery Award. Dr. Vicki Whitcare nominated our very own George Hiotis.

“George has always responded every time I have called him,” Dr. Whitcare said. “We’ve always appreciated the responsiveness of WHIZ. And when I called him this morning to remind him to come, he said you know it’s really not me. It’s the power of this TV station. And I thought that was a wonderful way to put it.”

Dr. Whitcare said it’s important to continue to encourage people who support mental health because, it helps increase the public’s awareness of mental health issues.

“So there’s more acceptance and our people can do better in the long run,” Dr. Whitcare said.
