The November general election is right around the corner and early voting is underway.

The Muskingum County Board of Elections Director, Timothy Thompson, said they have sent out 7,800 ballots, 1700 early voters have already cast their vote by machine, and about 150 early voters will vote with paper ballots.
“Well we’re very busy working with the voters and getting the ballots out to the voters in the mail,” said Thompson. “We had a very large mailing on October 12, [2016] and we’ve gotten a lot of those ballots back.”

Thompson said the Board of Elections will have extended hours and will be open on the weekends.

“We’re open from 8:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. this week,” said Thompson. “We’re open all weekend 8:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. Saturday, 1:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. on Sunday, next week we’re open from 8:00 A.M. to 7:00 P.M. and the weekend as well.”

Early voting ends at 2:00 P.M. on November 7, 2016. People mailing in their ballots need to have the ballot post marked by midnight on November 7, 2016 and November 8, 2016 polls are open from 6:30 A.M. to 7:30 P.M.
