Today the medical field is advancing in health and affordability for patients.

One way that the Orthopaedic Surgeon, Dr. Karl Saunders has advanced his patients health by offering a hip replacement that doesn’t take as long to heal unlike the sideways Lateral Approach and backside Posterior Approach.

“The Anterior Approach was developed several years ago as an alternative going through the front of the hip and in that manner we’re able to just separate two muscle groups and not detach muscles or tendons to get down to the hip joint to replace an arthritic joint,” said Saunders.

The reason this process of hip replacement heals faster is due to the surgeon not having to cut through muscle, but instead have a smaller insertion area. Dr. Saunders said not every person can have this procedure done, but those that need a replacement or preventive care should see their Physician and he’s also willing to discuss possibilities on medical treatments.

“It’s important that we have an initiative evaluation,” said Saunders.”We talk to the patient, because lots of patients that have hip pain don’t need surgery and we will stress the non-operative methods first. Then if the patient really has a more advanced process going on the hip then we talk to them about the possibility of doing an Anterior total hip replacement.”
