“I think it’s a great opportunity for the kids,” said Warden. “A lot of them don’t get out into the community, they go to school here, but they don’t actually get out into the community. It doesn’t matter what community you’re serving in. You get out, you get up in the morning, and you do something good to make somebody else feel better. You’re taking a lot home.”

Warden said they speak with the students each year to meet them and see what their plans are following college and serving is always at the top of the list. Muskingum University senior, Robert Fields is a Kappa Sigma fraternity member who signed up for the Martin Luther King Junior Day of Service.

“I want to show the community that giving back is important and coming here today just shows me how fortunate I really am,” Fields said. “That there are people struggling and they need the help and it’s important to them.”

Fields said he decided to sign for the day of service since Martin Luther King Junior was an important figure who stood for a great cause and wanted people to join together to serve those less fortunate.
