“The first time ever we have an offer of people with developmental disabilities are able to save and invest in their future and Jim Bernholtz actually heads up the STABLE Accounts initiative through Josh Mandel’s office, the treasurer of the State of Ohio,” said Clark.

The STABLE accounts and New Federal ABLE Act started a few years ago to help those with disabilities save money and not have to worry about losing eligibility for needs-based benefits. Clark said individuals that are eligible for the STABLE Accounts are those who developed their disability before the age of 26 and have been living with their disability for at least one year.

“They are employed in their communities, they live in their communities, volunteer, and are completely active just like everyone else,” Clark said. “They were only allowed to make so much money before there would be penalties toward their social security disabilities or their government benefits.”

The presentation will take place January 18, 2017 at Starlight School located at 1300 Newark Road from 6:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M.
