New Zanesville Memorial Concert Band Season

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The Zanesville Memorial Concert Band is gearing up for another season of music.
The band may have spent the winter planning spring and summer performances, but that’s not all. The Concert Band also held auditions for a new artistic director. Janine Schmelzer Bock said the people auditioning had to draw a number and conduct the band in playing one song that the band has never played before.
“I am the new Artistic Director of the Zanesville Memorial Concert Band and I have been with the band since 1991,” said Bock. “First as a member, as a tuba player, and then that last nine years, I’ve been the assistant conductor.”
The first fundraiser is The Ultimate Johnny Cash Tribute performed by Lee Goffee. The concert will take place on Saturday April 1, 2017 at 7:30 P.M. Secrest Auditorium will open their doors at 6:45 P.M.
“The Johnny Cash [Tribute] Concert is a fundraiser for all of the things we planned to do in the summer and it is a joint fundraiser between the Philo Band boosters and the Zanesville Memorial Concert Band,” Bock said.
