ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Tonight January 24, 2017 a local hospice care facility is celebrating 30 years of service to the community.

Morrison House is celebrating their anniversary by holding an Open House from 5:30 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Those who would like to attend will start in the family room, then proceed to take a tour of the building. Director of Hospice at Genesis HealthCare System, Rebecca Jenei said they’ve been working towards an open house since August, 2016 when they started the renovations and they are excited to show off their changes.

“The nurses and the staff have been so excited about it, because they’ve gotten a new nurses station, a new medical room, and the rooms have all been re-done paint wise and new furniture,” Jenei said. “So they’ve been enjoying working in that newer atmosphere and it actually looks larger in here with the colors we’ve chosen.”

Jenei said the patients have enjoyed the renovations and their families feel more comfortable now due to the renovations and lighter paint. According to the director of Genesis HealthCare Foundation, Paul McClelland,  the renovations cost about $700,000 and came from donations raised in the community.

“We wouldn’t have been able to do this without the communities support that we’ve received over the years,” Jenei said. “You know with endowments and things like that. So we really appreciate that the community supports us as much as they do here.”

Tonight Morrison House also hosted their yearly memorial service for the families who have lost a loved one in 2016. The Memorial service preceded the Open House.
