ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The Zanesville Museum of Art has made a few changes and added some programs for this year.

The museum sent out a marketing survey about six months ago to both museum members and non-members. Executive Director, Laine Snyder says this survey was to find out what people liked about the museum and also what needed changed.

“We’ve got a lot of really fantastic feed back and one of the things we’ve realized is that many of our children’s programs just didn’t meet the needs of many of the community members,” Snyder said. “So we took it upon our selves to re-form some of our programs. So that we really have an exciting lineup beginning this February.

Now the Art Museum holds 4 youth programs. According to Snyder the first is Jump start for children 15 months to four years of age. This program is for parents who want to get their children socializing and experiencing different types of art.

The second is Art Voyagers for children between kindergarten and 3rd grade. The children can learn about art history in various cultures.

“We have really exciting programs where kids can get a passport stamped and they travel throughout the world here at the Zanesville Museum of Art,” Snyder said. “They’ll make really great projects based on different geological locations.”

Master’s Apprentice is the third newest program for grades 4 through 6th. The older children will advance their knowledge by studying da Vinci, Michelangelo, O’Keeffe, and Cassatt.

Z.T.M.A. is the final new youth program.

“Zanesville Teens Making Art and this is open to teens,” Snyder said. “It’s $15.00, but with that you get a yearly membership to the museum and you do these really great collaborative projects in the community. So for example our first one we’re doing is a wishing wall.”

The new programs will be unveiled during the Free Family Day on Saturday February 4, 2017 from 1:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M. in the afternoon. For more information visit the Zanesville Museum of Art website at zanesvilleart.org
