Morgan Co. Intersection Project
A project to improve safety and congestion at two Morgan County intersections is planned for the spring of 2018.
The Ohio Department of Transportation District 10 announced that two new roundabouts will be constructed at either end of the “new bridge” connecting Malta and McConnelsville.
One roundabout would be at the intersection of State Route 37/78/668 and North Main Street in Malta. The other would be located at the intersection of State Routes 78/60/37 in McConnelsville.
Malta Mayor Greg Hill said the roundabouts will help the flow of traffic through the village. Also the part of the project, repairs will be made on the bridge and the sidewalk on the bridge will be widened.
The project will be completed ahead of the closure of the “old bridge” which also connects Malta and McConnelsville.
A 2010 study revealed safety concerns with that bridge. ODOT estimates the project to cost $3.2m.
ODOT is currently working with local partners to secure funding. They’ll hold a public meeting at a later date to educate the public on the proposed plan.
