250 Years of Freedom In Bloom

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – A local organization will be teaching residents how they can decorate their properties for America’s 250th birthday celebration.
Muskingum Valley Garden Society President Vicki Burke detailed how their 23rd Annual Spring Garden Symposium will offer indoor and outdoor gardening tips that are aimed to motivate and inspire.
“It’s a wonderful event that people can come to to get inspired to get ready for spring planting and growing. We’ll have vendors where people can purchase garden items, plants. And also artists who have a wide array of art. And also we have our silent auction which is always enjoyed by people that come,” Burke said.
The annual March event is held inside the OUZ-Zane State Campus Center just prior to planting season and serves as an opportunity to alleviate cabin fever. It will feature six dynamic speakers discussing topics aimed to cultivate creativity and coax confidence.
“One of our speakers is an expert in coleus plants, they’re very colorful, leafy plants, and there’s a wide variety of them. We also have a speaker that will be touching on hover flies as pollinators, native plants in landscapes, then many more,” Burke said.
250 Years of Freedom In Bloom will take place from 7:30 to 2:30 Saturday, March 14th, at 1425 Newark Road. A light breakfast and lunch will be included. Early registration is encouraged and the fee is $40 dollars. Early registration can be completed by visiting mvgardensociety.com.
