2nd Annual Walk/Run for Autism
In celebration of Autism Awareness Month one local organization is hosting a 5k Walk/Run to build awareness.
The C.A.S.S-MIND academy is hosting its 2nd Annual ‘Autism Walk’ at the Buckingham House on Moxahala Ave. Sunday, April 24th. Registration is at 12:30 p.m and the walk begins at 2 p.m. CEO, Cassandra McDonald said this is not only a fundraiser but, it’s a fun event to bring together the community all for a good cause.
“This is our community if we don’t build it who will? This is part of who we are,” said McDonald.”Why not pay for education, why not support so we can have viable young people that are creative that give back to our community. This is our community, we have to have a vital input and this is an opportunity.”
McDonald said this makes all the difference to children in the academy because they know someone is taking the time to recognize and realize who they are.
“My whole goal is always with any human being, if you can show a person their value they will change their self-efficacy about themselves and they will do more and do better,” said McDonald.
McDonald said all of the money raised goes back to the academy’s cause.
