3 to Get Ready Campaign

CROOKSVILLE, Ohio – Ohio’s Gear Up Program has been getting students excited about life after high school since 2014.
Carlos Bing, the State Director of the Gear Up Program, said they provide funding and support for students and parents so that they are more engaged. He has been working with Heather Sands Davis, the Director of Educational Services at Muskingum County Community Foundations and Scholarship Central, and the Crooksville District.
“They held parts of this campaign whether it was a FAFSA Initiative, the Ohio College Application Month or the Signing Day Program and what we did is we said “These are low cost activities, could we do this across the state with all the districts?” And so by having the folks here that have done this, they serve as mentors for other districts so they know how to put forth these programs that are very easy to do,” Bing said.
FAFSA is an important process and there is all kinds of help for students and parents. Bing said students graduating college and getting their degrees is important to build the economy and to make things better in our state.
“It gets more kids excited about not only applying to colleges but also getting the money for college and then being able to be celebrated for deciding to go on to college decision day,” Bing said.
He mentioned it is important to start signing up for financial student aid as soon as possible. Go to the Ohio Higher Education website to find out more about the 3 to Get Ready campaign.
