Dinner to Raise Funds for Food Pantry

Christmas Dinner 2

600 families are registered at the South Zanesville United Methodist Food Pantry. Pantry organizers said some days it’s a struggle to scrap together enough food to provide to their clients. So, in the spirit of the holidays and in the hopes of raising some funds for the pantry the church will host a turkey dinner with all the trimmings.

The dinner is a way to thank those that support the pantry and to give a warm meal to those that use the pantry’s services.

“That’s the one thing we like about this. It brings everyone together not just a certain group,” said Marlene Wilkins.

Not only will their be food, but they’ll be face painting for the kids and an appearance by Santa Claus which was a big hit at last year’s dinner.

“It seemed like everybody that came wanted their picture taken with Santa Claus so that’s always nice to know too that the older we get we still appreciate things in a kid like way,” said Wilkins.

The pantry plans on giving out 125 holiday baskets to their clients during the Christmas season.

The dinner will take place at the South Zanesville First United Methodist Church on Saturday from 4:30-6:30pm. There’s no set cost for the meal, but donations are encouraged.
