3rd Annual ‘Earth To Art’ Show
Gardeners of all ages are dusting off their green thumbs at the John McIntire Library to get some tips and ideas on how to improve those home gardens.
The Muskingum County Master Gardeners are holding their 3rd annual Earth to Art flower show to help raise money for a grant that goes to local school teachers.
“Last year we had $1,800 that we made from last years Earth to Art flower show and that money went to local school teachers in local school districts to use in their classrooms to either do horticultural projects, butterfly gardens, anything like that.”
Onlookers can have the chance to take home one of the 75 flower displays in four different categories that are spread out on the libraries front lawn. Organizers say the turnout of this years event goes to show how gardening is as popular as ever.
“Sometimes that’s where you do your best thinking, is in your garden. So sometimes when you’ve had a stressful day, go out and prune your flowers, go out and work in your garden it relieves the stress and relieves the tension. With the economy this year we have seen a large response to that, we’ve had lots of calls into the extension office asking about gardening, vegetable gardening in particular. So we know the people are out there wanting to grow their own tomatoes or their own green beans and so forth.”
You still have a chance to get a few tips from the master gardeners and enter your chance to take home a display or two, ‘earth to art’ is going on until 7:30 tonight (Wednesday).
