5th Annual Feed the Children Distribution

The Muskingum County Hunger Network provided nearly 1,000,000 meals last year to families in need.

Feed the Children, Avon, Christ’s Table, and the City of Zanesville teamed up for the 5th year in a row to help the Network, by distributing boxes filled with food and personal care items to local families. During Friday’s milestone, 1,200 families went home with essentials. Avon Inventory Analyst, Glen Haynes explained why this event is so important in the community.

“The people that come through are so thankful, we do have some that come through every year, and there are some that have just lost their jobs and they’re falling on hard times, and everybody needs help of some sort at some time, so I think it means a lot to the community,” Haynes said.

Vouchers were distributed to 15 food pantries across the county for families who qualified. Over the past 5 years, Avon and Feed the Children have distributed more than 250,000 pounds of food and merchandise valued at $1,500,000 to needy families.

“We’ve been able to help over 4,400 hundred families within the Muskingum area, it’s our cooperate responsibility to help them and it’s also a privilege, so every year we have 70 to 80 associates that are out there helping deliver all of these products,” said Avon’s Director of Customer Service, Eric Lee.

The event was held Friday afternoon at Secrest auditorium in downtown Zanesville.
