ZANESVILLE, Ohio-Â One local family is turning their personal loss to triumph by helping others.
The 5th Annual Walk With a Twist is happening this Saturday, at the Fair Oaks Baptist Church starting at 10 a.m. This walk is in honor of Danny Fraunfelter who lost his battle with Sarcoma. All proceeds will go to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
“It’s an honor to have St. Jude work with us,” said the co-founder of “Walk With a Twist” Jim Fraunfelter. “100% of the money is donated. And it made you feel good they you knew what it was going towards. They had given wheelchairs for the little guys and girls in the hospital to get around. And it made it kind of more of a real activity.”
Danny Fraunfelter’s widow Carol said this walk means the world to her, because Danny had a soft spot in his heart for kids.
“When he first went to Ohio State to his Sarcoma Specialist he look a little child riding a tricycle down the hallway,” said Carol Fraunfelter. “And he said, you know who am I to complain. I’ve lived 65 good years. The children is what we really need to look after.”
Danny worked as a postal worker for 43 years. Carol is challenging all postal workers go out and walk in honor of Danny.
