6th Street Bridge Closure Set for Maintenance

ZANESVILLE, OH – Drivers in Zanesville may want to plan a little extra time for their commute next week.
The 6th Street Bridge connecting Putnam Avenue and South 6th Street over the Muskingum River is scheduled to close for maintenance and repairs beginning June 1st through June 5th.
“It’s a maintenance project. We’re going to be replacing some steel structural members. That will take place Monday through Friday. There will also be some painting that goes on as part of the project but that will be later in the season.” ODOT District 5 Public Information Officer, Chas Cosgrave said.
During the closure, one lane will remain open only for emergency vehicles, while all other traffic will follow a detour route.
“We’ll be detouring traffic over to State Route 60 and using that as a detour for the U.S. 22 closure.” Cosgrave said.
In other transportation updates, 7th Street in Zanesville is scheduled to reopen to traffic on Friday, May 29th, while 5th Street will close to traffic as construction work continues.
