80th Ohio Annual Art Exhibition Returns This Week

ZANESVILLE, OH – An annual tradition is returning to the Zanesville Museum of Art for its 80th year.
The 80th Ohio Annual Exhibition is set to open on Thursday, June 18th and will showcase work from local as well as statewide artists.
Laine Snyder, the Executive Director of the Museum, says there will be fiber works, ceramics, oil and acrylic paintings, print making, jewelry, and so much more.
“We had nearly 300 applicants this year, which is a really, really high number, so the Museum feels really, really fortunate.” Snyder said. “Unfortunately, our juror this year had a very difficult time selecting those artists that made it in, so those artists that made it in, we had 67 artists, so it was a really tough job for our juror who, was excellent at making the choices but known the less I’m glad that I wasn’t involved in making those choices, I think it would be really hard.”
The Exhibit will open at 5:30PM on Thursday with the award ceremony happening around 6.
The Exhibit will close at 7:30 for the night but you will have until September 11th to view all beautiful works that were submitted to highlight the different aspects of our State.
“We really seem to have a lot of artists represented as textile artists, whether that’s quilt, or weaving or some sculptural works, so we’re really excited about that.” Snyder said. “Also always excited to have ceramic artists involved in the exhibition, based on our heritage, so we’ve got a lot of exciting things to see. Some artists we’ve never seen before and some artists who are consistent regulars at this exhibition and many of the artists that are known well in and around Zanesville, so we’re really excited to feature Zanesville and local artists as well.”
