8th Annual Coat Drive Under Way
The Community Youth Foundation’s annual coat drive is under way.
This is the 8th year for the drive and as cold weather approaches, the need is higher than ever. In years past hundreds of coats, sweatshirts, hats, gloves and scarves have been donated and distributed to the local youth in need.
“Obviously we couldn’t do this without the support of the community but every year the CYF members look forward to doing this because we’re able to recognize a need that’s right here in Muskingum county and engage the community to help and see results” said Community Youth Foundation Adviser, Juliet Lacy.
The Community Youth Foundation, Salvation Army and Eastside Community Ministry collaborates each year to make the coat drive a success. Now through November 13th you can donate new and gently used coats of all sizes. You can even give monetary donations to help purchase these items by U.S mail to MCCF, 534 Putnam Ave. Zanesville, Ohio 43701.
“It’s really something when we come in here and we have this board room table piled, heaping with coats and the students are able to meet the kids as well that are receiving these and it’s a big deal to them. It’s just very gratifying” she later told us.
Participating drop off sites include the Community Foundation, Zanesville Century National Bank locations, John Mcintire Public Library, Tri-Valley Fitness Center as well as local high schools.
