911 calls released in Police Involved Shooting

UPDATE* For clarification, the Muskingum County Sheriff’s Office did learn that the three children had found a neighbor and were safe. The Sheriff’s Office would simply like the public to know the truth about initial claims made about the incident, that were later rescinded by Wofter.

New details in the police involved shooting Saturday have been released.

Sheriff Matt Lutz released 911 calls to the media which help to clarify the confusion about a possible hostage situation. While girlfriend of Arthur West Sabrina Wofter said it was not a hostage situation that night… Sheriff Matt Lutz explained that the 911 call prepared them for just that.

“The only discrepancy that i’m going to allude to at this point today, is how the word hostage got involved with our investigation and that can for her and I understand whether or the kids were held hostage or not that’s the information our officers had coming in,” said Lutz.

Other questions that have surfaced surrounding the investigation focus on arrest of an individual that some claim are the brother of Arthur, Andrew West. Lutz said that due to pending charges. The name of a man arrested that night will not be released at this time but he did say  this..

“We don’t release suspect names until charges are filed,” said Lutz. “I can tell you that there was an individual taken into custody just down the road from the house however that was probably approximately anywhere from 20 to 30 minutes after the fatal shot was fired.”

The investigation remains on-going.
