Ashraf Sentenced On Drug/Food Stamp Charges

A Columbus man facing multiple food stamp and drug charges is sentenced in Muskingum County Common Pleas Court. The Prosecutor’s Office says that 35-year-old Waqar Ashraf was facing 20 counts of illegal use of food stamp benefits and six counts of trafficking in drugs near schools. Common Pleas Judge Kelly Cottrill sentenced Ashraf to 71 months in prison and a fine of 15-thousand dollars. 24 counts were dropped at sentencing. The court also noted that Ashraf is not a citizen of the United States.
