Thornville Man Escapes From Deputies

The Perry County Sheriff’s Office says a Thornville man is in custody after a series of events that included escaping from deputies. Lt. Kevin Starrett says around 3:00 Sunday afternoon deputies were called to 89-55 State Route 204 in Thornville for a domestic violence incident. Starrett says 30-year-old William Simmons assaulted his wife, Christina. Deputies say just after 8:30 in the evening Simmons was arrested at a business in Newark. Starett says when the suspect was transported to the Perry County Sheriff’s Office he managed to escape from deputies. Starrett says Simmons stole a pickup truck and after a long search was arrested early this morning in the vehicle at 89-55 State Route 204. Simmons now faces charges of escape, domestic violence and grand theft.
