Truck Driver Sentenced in Fatal Accident

A New Lexington man is sentenced in connection to a 2013 vehicular homicide. The Muskingum County Prosecutor’s Office says that 67-year-old John Snider went before Common Pleas Judge Kelly Cottrill and pled guilty to a Prosecutor’s Bill of Information to one count of reckless homicide. Snider waived his pre-sentence investigation and received two years community control, he must complete 50 hours of community service and is ordered to forfeit his commercial driver’s license. The Zanesville Post of the Highway Patrol says in 2013 Snider was driving a concrete truck north on State Route 60, when he stopped to make a left turn onto Airy View Drive and turned in front of a motorcycle traveling south. The Highway Patrol says the rider of the cycle, 40-year-old Chad Garey of Dresden was pronounced dead at the scene.
