Tilton By Just Over 60 In Race For Mayor

The race for Zanesville Mayor goes to incumbent Jeff Tilton who topped Rob Sharrer in a very close contest by 62 votes.

However, there are still 500 provisional ballots for Muskingum County left to be counted. As of Tuesday’s latest results, Tilton received 2,242 votes, to Sharrer’s 2,180 votes.

“Right now, I’d just like to thank the people who voted for me, who have confidence in me for another four years,” Tilton said. “My administration has done great things the first four years, and we would like to continue for another four years.”

The Muskingum County Board of Elections couldn’t verify how many provisional ballots are from the city, but the board has 10 days to count those votes. Stay with WHIZ for the latest election results.
