Zcs Celebrates 21 Years Of Serving Thanksgiving Dinner

The Zanesville community came together for the 21st Benevolent dinner Monday evening.

Zane Grey Intermediate School hosted the early Thanksgiving feast and the Zanesville High School Kiwanis Club as well as other school volunteers came together to prepare and serve the meal. Director of Food Services for Zanesville City Schools Vicki Wheeler said they served almost 500 meals to those who couldn’t leave home Monday night and over 200 at the school.

“It just fills your heart because you know these people need what you’re giving them and they all thank you,” said Wheeler. “Even our shut-ins send thank you notes.”

The plates were filled with all the holiday hits and Wheeler said it feels good to see the Zanesville City School community come together to make such an important night happen.

“The teachers and all the people in the district are busy but they take that time to give us two or three hours in the evening,” said Wheeler. “It just makes your job something that you enjoy every day. ”

The Zane Grey Intermediate School will enjoy the same special meal at their Thanksgiving themed lunch Tuesday.
