Blue Rock Rifle Range is busy at the start of Deer Season

One local shooting range is beginning to see an increase of shooters as hunters prepare for deer hunting season.

There was a sharp aroma of cordite in the air at the Blue Rock Rifle Range early this morning as hunters await for their turn on the shooting line.
Deer gun season begins Monday, November 30th and although today was calm; Sunday the range is expecting to be packed with eager hunters.

“Saturday is usually our slow day, people are traveling and it’s Ohio State game day, so we have to compete with Ohio State; Go Buckeyes. Today will be a slow day but, tomorrow is when we get the bulk of people. We will have well over 100 people tomorrow. It gets very busy real quick. So if anybody wants to come out, they need to come out early,” said Pagath.

Pagath told us, everyone is excited for hunting season and people start preparing for a new season as early as, the day after, the last day of the previous season.

“Oh it’s exciting. People are just going nuts. Deer gun season, everybody looks forward to deer gun season. It’s kind of like the same electricity you see before a football game or something like that. yea, people are excited,” said Pagath.

As a reminder gun season begins Monday morning, a half an hour before sunrise and runs the entire week, ending on December 6th.
