Moxahala Amusement Park Auction

One local and historic theme park went up for auction.
Moxahala Park opened up in 1941 and enjoyed several years of success before closing in 1978. After being closed for 37 years the park tried to reopen this fall and unfortunately only lasted a few weeks. This weekend they held an auction to sell the estate, memorabilia, and collectible pieces as well as a few other electronic items.
“Yesterday we had a sale at the estate, it’s an estate sell. We had the sale at the house and sold a lot of memorabilia and the collectible items. Here today, we still have a few of those kinds of things and we also got everything that was in storage, they were using. Their plans were to reopen the park someday. They had been re-roofing and putting new electric in; and all those supplies is here, after the untimely death of the owner of the park,” said Blackburn.
Included in the auction were items such as commercial electronics and commercial doors that they were using during the remodeling process. Blackburn told us it was a dream of the owner to renovate the property before he passed.
“That was the owner’s dream before he passed away. They tried to reopen it this passed fall; it didn’t work out. The heir to the estate decided to liquidate everything and the real estate will be offered Sunday at 2 p.m also,” said Blackburn.
