Dancers Battle Cancer Through Competition

The annual Cancer Research Donation Dance Competition was held at Maysville High School Sunday. Organizer Pat Payne said there was a good turnout, but each year it’s more difficult to know what to expect.

"There are a lot of other contests in the state of Ohio and there’s dance competitions every…Every weekend, somewhere. And so you just kind of go with the flow and hope that it turns out," said Payne.

Dancers of all ages competed in ballet, tap and even baton twirling. Payne said there’s only one thing she would change about the event.

"We would like to get more people of the local area to come, and see what a nice contest it is, and how rewarding it can be to not only contribute to your child’s performance, but to a good cause."

All proceeds will benefit cancer research in Muskingum County.
