Christ’s Table Hopes to Decrease the Number of Meals Served in 2016

ZANESVILLE, Ohio-Â The numbers are in and Christ’s Table severed more than 120,000 hot meals in 2015.
Executive Director, Keely Warden said the astounding data means more people are in need in the local community than Christ’s Table expected. And she’s hoping for a decrease in those looking for hot meal programs like this one in 2016.
“That is a significant increase compared to what we’re used to seeing. We’re hoping for for a better year this year. Christ’s Table everybody says you want more, and more. That’s what all agencies want is to serve more. Actually here at Christ’s Table we rather to serve less. We would love to see a day where there is not a need for a hot meal. We would love to see a day where our doors can be closed. Salvation’s Army’s doors could be closed. All of us emergency service agencies where we had a community full of self-sufficiency families. That could take care of what they needed to take care of,” said Warden.
While preparing and serving hot meals is the agencies day to day practice. Warden said Christ’s Table is more than a meal. It’s about helping those in need in anyway they can.
“One of the things that we always strive to do is to partner with other agencies. So that it’s just not a hot meal at lunch. The we make sure our families are being taken care of completely. That we are always giving those referrals when we see a need in the dining room. You may want to check out this agency or you may want to look at this. Because we do look at the complete family. We want to make sure that they are healthily not just with a hot meal. But mental and physically also,” said Warden.
Christ’s Table is open Monday through Friday from 11:00 a.m.- 1:00 p.m. It’s always open on major holidays unless it falls on a Sunday.
