YMCA Holding St. Patrick’s Day Mud Run
The Muskingum County Family YMCA hopes the luck of the Irish will be on their side for the "Saint Patrick’s Day Mud Run."
The event takes place Saturday with all proceeds benefiting the Strong Kids Campaign.
Executive Director Craig Miracle said he has 55 participants already registered for the run.
"It’s our first year to do it, it was the brainchild of Tim Rucker, and he approached me about putting something together; something that’s different, rather than just a traditional 5K or fun walk. But that is something that’s very popular now, the adventure runs, that you see around the country. So we’re going to start on the small scale, and we’re going to go from there," said Miracle.
Participants can sign up to run alone or in co-ed teams.
Miracle said competitors can expect to get dirty while on the four-mile course.
"They’ll be on trails, they’ll be on the streets and on sidewalks, but they’ll also be down on the nature trails down at Joe’s Run, they’ll be into some mud, some water, some obstacles where they’re climbing; climbing under, crawling under, etc. So there’s a little bit of something for everybody," added Miracle.
Registration opens Saturday at noon at Littick Hall on the OU-Z/Zane State Campus.
The cost is $15 per person.
