Longtime Funeral Director Dies

A longtime area funeral director has died. Pat Goebel – of the Goebel Funeral Home in Crooksville died Wednesday at the Genesis Morrison House. In 1974 Goebel purchased the Fred Cannon Funeral Home and changed the name and fulfilled his dream of owning and operating his own funeral home where he served families for 42 years. Goebel was also a devoted member of Church of The Atonement Catholic Church in Crooksville. He was also active in many organizations including the Amrou Grotto in Zanesville, the Knights of Columbus and the Elks and Eagles. He also loved hunting and fishing. Calling hours are Sunday from 11:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Goebel Funeral Home. The funeral is Monday at 11:00 a.m. at Church of The Atonement Catholic Church in Crooksville. Goebel will be laid to rest in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery south of Crooksville. Goebel was 72 years old.
