The City of Zanesville wants to hear from you.
You can voice your questions, concerns, and opinions regarding the old Mosaic factory and Munson school in an open forum this Saturday at the fairgrounds from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. .
“We’re from a bottom up approach instead of a top down approach at city hall,” said City of Zanesville Redevelopment Administrator Patrick O’Malia. “We want the citizens to come in tells us what they want to see these neighbors transform into create a community vision. That’s going to be a guiding document for city hall to pursue for 5, 10,15, 20 years about how we’re going to develop these properties. And create an area that isn’t just economic viable but also great for the neighbors as well.”
The meeting is an attempt to revitalize South Zanesville. O’Malia said he hopes everybody in the community will get excited about brightening that area again.
“We’re giving the citizens an opportunity to come and interact with nationally recognized experts on what to do and create a community vision.” said O’Malia.
“I’d just like to hear from the south side what they are looking for,” said Mayor Jeff Tilton. “A lot of those people have lived in these neighborhoods for years. They’ve seen the good and they’ve seen the bad. Now what are they looking for in the future. What do they want in their neighborhoods. We have areas that can be developed. What do you want in those areas.”
O’Malia said to come with ideas and an open mind. The meeting will be held at the fairgrounds which is located on 1300 Pershing Road.
