The House Passed a Proposal to Legalize a Vapor Form of Medical Marijuana

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- The legalization of medical marijuana in Ohio seems to be on the fast track but with some restrictions.
The Ohio house passed a proposal to legalize medical marijuana but in the vapor form. Â We spoke to Muskingum Behavioral Health CEO Steve Carrel regarding this new proposal.
“This group did a pretty good job of listening to what medicine is,” said Carrel. “Medicine is not smoked which is a major issue.”
Under the legislation, a nine member marijuana control commission would set rules for cultivating, distributing, and licensing cannabis. Communities could opt out of hosting dispensaries. Employers who want to a maintain drug-free workplace would be protected from liability.
“I think there is still some science missing here but as far as a step forward, it’s a really good step forward. There’s also support for marijuana research as for as what chemicals in the marijuana plant really effect disease,” said Carrel.
The bill passed on a 71- 26 vote Tuesday. The senate plans to begin a hearing on the measure Wednesday. House leaders said they expect the legislation to reach to the governor’s desk by the end of May.
