Patrol Pursuit Results In Arrest

The Highway Patrol says a Zanesville man is facing several charges after an early Thursday morning chase. Lt Matt Boyd says it happened just before 2:00 a.m. on I-70 in Muskingum County. Lt. Boyd says troopers attempted to stop a vehicle for speed and a marked lane violation but the driver continued off I-70 and through several Zanesville Streets. Boyd says the driver pulled into a driveway off an alley near Virginia Street and fled on foot forcing the trooper to use his taser before taking him into custody. Lt Boyd says the driver, 49-year-old Phillip Collins has been charged with O-V-I, speed, marked lanes, failure to comply, driving under suspension and possession of marijuana. The patrol says the pursuit reached a speed of 69 miles per hour and last 11 minutes.
