A Special Program for Gold Star Families

A special event will be held Sunday morning to introduce a fairly new program for the U.S Navy.
The Frazeysburg United Methodist Church is hosting a ‘Gold Star Program’ which is a long term casualty program, where they provide help for Gold Star families. Gold Star families are people who have loss their loved ones while on active duty. Speakers Shannon Davis, said this is one of the small pieces they do show how much they care.
"I ‘m going to talk to them about the program and how they can help as a congregation to connect gold star families as well as veterans with the community and make sure that we honor our fallen who have sacrificed for us," said Shannon Davis, LCSW, Navy Region Mid- Atlantic, Program Manager for Navy Fleet and Family Support Program.
Rev. Robert Mesnard said Frazeysburg United Methodist Church has a history of supporting the military and the veterans. He said he’s excited for the opportunity to be apart of a program that lifts up gold star families.
"I’m very excited about helping them find what benefits are available for Gold Star families that have given so much to this country and I think it’s important that we give something back to them," said Rev. Mesnard.
The program begins Sunday morning at 9:30 a.m and is located at 87 W. 2nd street, Frazeyburg, Oh 43822.
