‘Click it or Ticket’ Seat Belt Enforcement

In 2015, 10 people were killed in automobile accidents in Muskingum County.
The Muskingum County Safe Communities Coalition launched the National "Click it or Ticket" seat belt enforcement campaign.
"Today we have representatives from Muskingum County Sheriff’s Department, people from the Ohio State Highway Patrol, we have Mayor Tilton here and the County Commissioners are here to support us," Health Educator, Jessica explains. "It’s just kind of a way that our community really works together. We have our contacts just from the Health Department but, this is important to them. They’re here today to kind of express the importance as well."
Out of the 10 people killed in car crashes in Muskingum County, six people were in vehicles but, only 1 person was wearing a seat belt.
"It’s important to me to wear a seat belt and I think everybody should just because, you don’t know what could happen. You could be the safest driver but, you don’t know about everyone else around you and you can’t be accountable for them. So if you are in an accident the best thing to do, the first thing you can do to keep yourself safe, if to wear a seat belt," said Emerick.
Zanesville-Muskingum County Health Department is having ‘Seat Belt Selfie’ contest this week. For more information visit: www.zmchd.org.
