Granville Recreation District Holds 2nd ‘Touch A Truck’ Event

The 2nd Annual ‘Touch A Truck’ event was held Sunday afternoon at the Infirmary Mound Park in Granville.
Granville Recreation District, Program Director, Lisa Miller said they are having this event to give kids and parents an up close look at some of the service heroes vehicles that they may see on a regular basis.
"I think it’s important that kids are able to see things in a friendly environment. Sometimes the police officers may be in their uniforms and they might be a little scary but, I think in a more friendly environment that they can be out here in the parks," said Miller.
The Granville Fire Department, Granville Police Department, and the Licking County Library were of a few that took part in the event. Garry Goldsmith, said by having the Licking County Library in the event because, it gives people more exposure to the library’s services.
"The idea of the ‘Touch A Truck’ event is to allow kids to come out and actually get on the trucks and get around and look at everything and get a fill for what guys do who drives these truck," said Goldsmith.
Miller said there will be two more ‘Touch A Truck’ events coming up in July and October, where kids can get a closer look at different construction and tractor vehicles.
