Pool Tournament Benefits Special Olympics
Pool players used their talents Saturday to raise money for a good cause…
The Amrou Grotto hosted the 2nd Annual Y-City Challenge Pool Tournament. All proceeds will benefit the Special Olympics at the State Level, but Chairman Tim Snelling said he wants to help his own community.
"The other proceeds go to local…Because it costs 80 dollars per participant to play at the Special Olympics at Ohio Stadium and this way they can take more people from Zanesville, from the Starlight here locally," said Snelling.
Players arrived at 7:30 Saturday morning for practice rounds. The tournament raised 1,600 dollars last year, and Snelling said reaching that mark again will be more than enough.
"I’m trying to better it each year and I believe it’ll…Just from the people telling me how good of a tournament it is, it’ll be a success."
Local businesses contributed by sponsoring the pool tables for the tournament.
