Newark Woman Charged With Arson After Setting Fire To House

Police allege a Newark woman repeatedly set fire to her home and tried to frame her estranged husband, including for one blaze that trapped her and her children before they were rescued by police.

Amy Wilson, 39, is charged with aggravated arson. Her bond was set Thursday at $100,000. Wilson has no attorney on record.

She and her children were treated for smoke inhalation after they got trapped upstairs during a Feb. 12 fire in a downstairs bathroom. It was the third suspicious fire at the home, and investigators initially focused on her husband because text messages implicated him. A prosecutor said Wilson admitted to police this week that she bought disposable phones and falsified the purported texts from her husband.
